The weather has continued to be unseasonably warm so… we have continued to plan our gardens! Rachel and I started some seeds today to get a jump on the upcoming planting season.
We have some special needs in our home in regards to plants on account of four very curious cats who seem to love eating houseplants. Erika has fashioned a plant growing shelf that is attached to the dresser we use to house dog-cleaning towels, outdoor shoes, and a variety of other things having to do with outside animals. As long as we push the plant side of the cabinet up against the glass door, the seedlings get light and warmth and the cats get nothing! Genius!
The nice thing about the plant shelf is that it can be expanded. We only had one layer of depth last year. All we could fit were dixie cups in a single row. This year the depth tripled and we are excited to fill it with as many little seedlings as possible!
I think this is the earliest we have had seeds planted and garden plans ready to go. Hopefully, this streak of organization will continue into the actual gardening season! We will see…
